How it works

1
Upload

Upload your Castle CSV and add your vehicle, motor, gearing/prop, and battery details.

2
View Charts

See voltage, current, ripple, RPM, temps, and power in clean charts from any device.

3
Improve Your Setup

Compare runs over time to validate gearing, props, packs, connectors, and cooling changes.

What you’ll learn from your logs

Ripple Risk & ContextSee peak ripple plus the conditions when it happened so you can diagnose cause.
Voltage Sag at Peak LoadQuantify sag per cell under the hardest pull and compare packs objectively.
Power & Current BehaviorSee where your setup pulls hardest and whether changes actually reduce stress.
RPM Trend ClarityUnderstand when the setup “loads up” (prop/gear/drag) and how it impacts everything else.
Thermal StressTrack heat ramp so you know when cooling or gearing changes are needed.
Run-to-Run ComparisonsSave multiple logs per build and compare what changed when you swapped parts.
Shareable LinksShare logs with others so you can get feedback without sending files around.
Build MetadataStore the details that matter (cells, motor, gearing/prop, vehicle type) for better records.
Monthly memberships unlock deeper tools.
Members in RCexplained Insights Access or RCexplained Battery Benchmark Squadron get access to the Analysis, Summary, and Search sections.

FAQ

Uploads File support, validation, and what happens to your CSV
Can I upload any CSV?
No — uploads are validated to match Castle Creations ESC log formats.
What ESC brands are supported?
Right now this tool focuses on Castle Creations ESC data log CSV files. Support for other formats may come later.
Do you modify my log file?
No — your raw upload stays unchanged. The app reads your file and generates charts + summaries from it.
What if my upload fails?
Most failures happen when the file is not a Castle log CSV or the format is different than expected. If it’s a valid Castle log, submit a support request and include the file name + a screenshot.
Can I delete a log I uploaded?
Yes — you can manage your own uploads from the My Logs page (and we can expand this with better “manage” controls as the app matures).
Metrics & interpretation What the charts mean and where to look first
What should I look at first in my log?
Start with ripple, voltage sag under load, and temperature ramp. Those three usually reveal the biggest tuning opportunities fast.
What does ripple tell me?
Ripple is a stress indicator. High ripple can point to battery/internal resistance limits, connector/wiring resistance, aggressive gearing/prop load, or insufficient capacitance.
What does voltage sag tell me?
Sag is how much the pack drops under load. It’s a great way to compare packs, connectors, and overall system load across similar runs.
What does current tell me?
Current shows how hard the setup pulls. Spikes can identify punch events or load-ups. Sustained high current can explain heat ramp and reduced efficiency.
Why does motor RPM look strange sometimes?
RPM depends on pole count assumptions and log interpretation. If pole count is wrong, RPM can look off. The app supports overrides to correct the displayed RPM behavior.
Can I use this for boats and planes too?
Yes — the tool is built for cars, boats, and planes. The same metrics help diagnose load, stress, and thermal behavior across all setups.
Membership What’s free vs what members unlock
Do I need to be a member to upload logs?
No — Free Access can upload and view basic charts. Membership unlocks deeper analysis and searchable comparisons.
What do monthly members get?
RCexplained Insights Access and Battery Benchmark Squadron members unlock the Analysis, Summary, and Search sections — plus spreadsheet downloads tied to the membership level.
What’s included in RCexplained Insights Access?
It includes everything in Free Access, plus deeper log tools (Analysis + Summary + Search) and access to the RC Calc spreadsheet downloads.
What’s included in the Battery Benchmark Squadron?
It includes everything from the other plans, plus battery benchmark spreadsheets and ranked performance data — designed for serious comparison and testing.
Can other people search my logs?
Search is a membership feature. Members can browse and learn from shared setups and comparisons while keeping the workflow simple.
Privacy & sharing Sharing links, public viewing, and future privacy options
Are my logs public?
Logs are shareable by link. If you want private-by-default behavior later, that can be added as a member feature.
Can I share a log with a friend?
Yes — shareable links are part of the core workflow so you can get feedback without sending files around.
Can you add private logs, tags, or comparisons?
Yes — the system is being built to evolve. Private-by-default logs, tagging, saved comparisons, and better filtering are all logical upgrades.
Troubleshooting Common issues and what info helps support fix it fast
What if a field looks blank or wrong?
That usually means the log references an ID that needs to be resolved to a name (like ESC model mappings), or the file format changed. We can fix this by updating the parser/mapping logic.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes — the charts and viewer are designed to work across devices. On smaller screens you may need to zoom/drag more often, and we’re improving mobile ergonomics over time.
Will leaderboards be available?
Yes — leaderboards are planned so you can compare top runs by metrics and see what setups achieve specific outcomes.
Where can I get help?
Use the Member Support page for logged-in help requests. Include your log link, what you expected to see, and a screenshot if relevant.
Still stuck?
Send a support request with: (1) the log link, (2) what you expected to see, (3) what happened instead, and (4) a screenshot if possible. That combo usually lets us diagnose issues quickly (parser changes, field mappings, or viewer behaviors).
